Biljana Spireva on IAESTE exchange in MariborIf you would’ve asked me about Slovenia before my practical traineeship, the answer would be: it’s GREEEN! Awesome! Then, there were some of my friends to tell me about it, and they were SO excited to talk about it. Thought that was all I knew by that time (and that was so little), yet I was almost sure it will be great summer there. And it was!

Maribor – that’s the place where I was and where I always want to go.
I spent there about 3 months. My company was one of the leading in Sloveania in electricity production. The first things that made really good impression on me were the nice people and working environment. One would feel those in the very first moment. Then, you will definitely notice the devotion and liability in what they do – love it! I was given a chance to choose the department to do my traineeship at. It was not easy. Yet, IT was the “lucky winner”. IT department was small one, but did a huge job: few men, great experts, really experienced and awesome colleagues, always there for advise. Yup, I was even luckier! Of course, it was not just the IT you see, contact and work with. The other colleagues were also very very nice. You feel the people around; you feel you are part of a team, of a company that’s functioning really well. Even after work you know you are honored to meet them: they were sporting at least 3 times a week, they had goings out and parties together very often, even had birthday parties together, they still go to holidays together (I’m up-to-date), and what the best: they like the phrase “the more, the merrier” – you can be part of that happy “family”. Even the early wake up to go to work in the morning was a kind of a “looking forward” – has never happened to me before.

He he… The student live in the dormitory was also some story. There were always so many students, even Slovenian, though it was summer. Slovenia has a great student service, very good student exchange, so it’s a dynamic country full of youth. One finds so many friends from so many countries, great chance to learn and experience so many new things. Can’t forget the parties all night long. And the travelling around Slovenia… irresistible… That country is definitely much more then green (though that’s enough for me): the nature, culture, good life style with defined good life criteria, so many different events … There is always what to do, what to enjoy in. Awesome!

So, even now, after few years, if you hear me talking, when talking about the summer in Slovenia, I believe I sound just like my friends who had been there: EXCITED!
